65Border Collie or Jack Russell Terrier?
Both these dog breeds are terrific. They are very intelligent and need lots of interaction and exercise to keep there mind and body stimulated and healthy. Devotion and loyalty are great qualities these dogs share along with a willingness to please there owners. The Border Collie is arguably the best herding breed while the Jack Russell's energy isn't equaled. So which breed is better?
I personally like the Border Collie better and here's why:
They're larger; I tend to prefer larger dogs. They seem to be more docile and less yippie.
It's been my personal experience Border Collies don't tend to run off like the Jack Russell. I've always favored a dog that sticks around. If I wanted something that's going to take off I would get a cat.
Border Collies seem to train easier. You wouldn't think this after seeing Eddie on Frazier, but that Jack Russell wasn't the norm for the breed. I think the Russell would train well if they weren't so hyper.
Lastly, the Border doesn't seem to chew or dig as often. Right now I have one of each of these breeds and it's been my experience the Jack Russell is constantly digging while outside (even if I am throwing toys, kicking balls, or just trying to play in general). Plus, the Jack Russell has chewed the trim around my bathroom door. That was annoying but nothing a little sanding and paint can't fix.
Don't get me wrong, I do really like both these breeds; but prefer the Border Collie because of the reasons given above. Do you agree or disagree? Feel free to leave a comment and let me know.
